These words all describe something that is hard to define or understand precisely.
A vague idea or statement is too imprecise to have a single definite interpretation: the allusion to ‘properly conducted’ sports and games is vague. Physical objects are described as
  • vague if their outline is not sharp: a vague, just perceptible shape like a shadow.
    Hazy is applied more often than
  • vague to physical objects that are blurred and hard to perceive distinctly: the coastline stretched away, hazy in the hot sunshine.
